2020 CANCPEC FOIP

APF Canada (secretariat for CANCPEC members) with the support of government and private sector partners organized the first of its kind international conference on the Free and Open Indo-Pacific: Charting a Common Approach in Vancouver, Canada between 22-23 January 2020. Hosted by APF Canada, the forum served as a venue for informed scholarship and policy discussion to develop a strategy and response to regional issues surrounding the Indo-Pacific, an emerging geopolitical construct that extends from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific. Topics discussed included Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) governance, economic interconnectivity and security challenges. CANCPEC Chair Don Campbell and Vice-Chair Hugh Stephens both participated in the event.
